Lockwood Film is proud to announce that Philip Wollen OAM, from Australia is joining us as Executive Producer for our upcoming film, “By a Thread”.

Directed by BAFTA-winner Alex Lockwood, whose “73 Cows” remains the first and only vegan-themed film to receive the honour “By a Thread” weaves documentary filmmaking with striking theatrics inspired by globally celebrated productions such as “War Horse” and “Life of Pi”.

With more than three decades of cross-sector experience and a commitment to animal protection, environmental justice, and ethical storytelling, Suriya brings the exact blend of passion, strategic insight, and moral clarity that this film demands. Her background in scientific communication, policy advocacy, and social-impact leadership positions her as an exceptional partner in guiding a documentary designed to reach audiences at a time of unprecedented ecological urgency.
As the founder of Ethics Map and a dedicated advocate for animal welfare, Suriya has spent years working at the intersection of animal ethics, social justice, and environmental collapse. Her career spans thirteen years as a pharmaceutical specialist in cardiology, endocrinology, and antibiotics; leadership roles such as Vice-Chair of the Laguna Food Pantry; and board service with Refoundry, supporting those rebuilding their lives after incarceration. She has been an active force in legislative advocacy, working with Voters for Animal Rights in New York City and championing key policy reforms in Connecticut, where she continues to push for compassionate, evidence-driven change.
Suriya’s creative and strategic experience extends deeply into impact-driven filmmaking. She previously contributed as an Exec Producer on additional documentaries and has more slated for 2026. Her ability to bridge storytelling with public engagement make her an invaluable contributor to our documentary, a film that seeks not only to communicate the urgency of re-wilding but to challenge entrenched assumptions about our relationship with the natural world.
